The Sheepdogs are Canada’s reigning kings of guitar-driven, feel-good rock ‘n’ roll. With a sound that channels the golden age of Southern rock, blues, and classic boogie, the band has carved out a reputation for tight harmonies, vintage tones, and high-octane live shows that bring the swagger of the ‘70s into the modern age.

Hailing from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, The Sheepdogs were formed in the mid-2000s by high school friends Ewan Currie (vocals/guitar), Ryan Gullen (bass), and Sam Corbett (drums). The band’s lineup later expanded to include Shamus Currie (keys/trombone) and Ricky Paquette (guitar), rounding out a sound that is rich, layered, and road-hardened.

Their breakthrough came in 2011, when The Sheepdogs became the first unsigned band to appear on the cover of Rolling Stone, after winning a nationwide competition. The exposure catapulted them onto the global stage and earned them a deal with Atlantic Records. Their self-titled major-label debut, produced by The Black Keys’ Patrick Carney, delivered hits like “The Way It Is” and “Feeling Good,” helping the band gain widespread acclaim and radio play on both sides of the border.

Since then, The Sheepdogs have released a steady stream of groove-laden albums including Learn & Burn (2010), Future Nostalgia (2015), Changing Colours (2018), and Outta Sight (2022). These records showcase the band’s dedication to warm analog sounds, three-part harmonies, and the kind of guitar solos that make you want to roll the windows down and drive for hours.

Despite their retro aesthetic, The Sheepdogs aren’t a nostalgia act. Their music feels fresh and alive — a testament to their love for songcraft, musicianship, and the raw, communal joy of rock music played loud and loose. Whether it’s a sweaty club show or a summer festival mainstage, they bring the same energy every time: honest, no-frills rock that aims straight for the soul.

The band has been recognized with multiple JUNO Awards, including Rock Album of the Year, and have toured relentlessly across North America, Europe, and Australia — sharing stages with acts like Kings of Leon, Rival Sons, and John Fogerty.
