Three Days Grace is one of Canada’s most successful and enduring rock bands, known for their explosive sound, raw emotional lyrics, and massive radio presence. With a style that fuses post-grunge, alternative metal, and hard rock, the band has earned a global following for their anthemic choruses, searing guitar work, and songs that tap into the darker corners of the human experience — anger, addiction, resilience, and redemption.

Formed in Norwood, Ontario in 1997, the original lineup featured Adam Gontier (vocals/guitar), Neil Sanderson (drums), and Brad Walst (bass), later joined by lead guitarist Barry Stock in 2003. The band’s self-titled debut album, Three Days Grace (2003), was an instant breakthrough. Featuring hits like “I Hate Everything About You” and “Just Like You,” it established the group as a major force in the post-grunge/alt-metal movement, striking a chord with fans for its emotional honesty and hard-hitting riffs.

Their follow-up albums, One-X (2006) and Life Starts Now (2009), solidified their commercial success and creative voice. One-X, in particular, became a defining record of the 2000s alt-rock scene, with chart-dominating singles like “Animal I Have Become,” “Never Too Late,” and “Pain.” The album was deeply influenced by Gontier’s personal struggles with addiction, and its cathartic, confessional tone resonated with millions.

After Adam Gontier’s departure in 2013, the band continued on with Matt Walst — lead singer of My Darkest Days and brother of bassist Brad Walst — stepping in as the new frontman. With Matt on vocals, Three Days Grace entered a new chapter, releasing Human (2015), Outsider (2018), and Explosions (2022). The transition proved successful both creatively and commercially, with tracks like “I Am Machine,” “Infra-Red,” and “Lifetime” dominating rock charts and reaffirming their status as one of the most played rock bands on radio in North America.

Three Days Grace holds the record for the most No. 1 songs on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart — surpassing legendary acts like Van Halen and Shinedown — a testament to their consistent impact and enduring appeal.

Their live shows are high-energy, emotionally charged experiences that draw crowds across the globe, from intimate theatres to massive festivals. With their deep discography and unmistakable sound, the band continues to connect with fans who find catharsis, strength, and solidarity in their music.
